"My name is Almer. I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Political Science, attended UCLA graduate level film school with an emphasis on Screenplay Writing, and was accepted to the American Film Institute as a Writing Fellow based on a play I submitted. I have published two novels with independent presses, and have published poems and short stories in literary magazines.

In 34 years of experience as a High School Tutor in group classes and on an individual basis, I have specialized in ACT, SAT, and AP English, History, and Government test presentation. My sole aim is to help students build confidence in test taking skills by focusing on contextual recognition in reading comprehension, pattern recognition in English grammar questions, and an overall plan for writing well-structured AP English and History essays. I try to bring real world, relatable examples to the experience to further students' connection to and

understanding of what they are studying. Nothing feels more gratifying than to watch students achieve their academic dreams.

Essays, both Common App and Supplementals for

Private Schools, and the four UC essays. Many of

my students attend, or have attended, the Ivy League Colleges, MIT, Cal Tech, Stanford, Johns Hopkins, the Claremont Schools, and the UCs. One of my students was accepted early decision this Fall to UPenn, and another (who scored 1600 on her SAT) to MIT.
