"Hi, I'm Jennifer! After graduating from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. Since then, I earned my Master's in Teaching, Learning, & Curriculum with a concentration on in Educational Leadership from Drexel University. Additionally, I spent 10+ years as a public school educator, working with students Grades Pre-K-6, before transitioning to the field of K-8 curriculum writing and educational publishing.
During my years as a classroom teacher, I utilized a wealth of print and digital resources to support student learning objectives. It is highly likely that I currently use, or am extremely familiar with, the same curriculum materials that your student needs help with. My profession is helping students succeed. This makes me the perfect K-8 tutor!
My strengths as a tutor include solidifying the basic building blocks of learning how to read as well as coaching students in comprehension. I truly enjoy being able to work with students of varying ages, from Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade. I am proud to be partly responsible for the growth and cognitive development of each student that I teach. I enjoy tutoring because I understand how a little bit of extra help can make a big difference in a struggling students' educational career.
Phonics are the building blocks of reading, writing, and spelling. If students are familiar with letters, letter sounds, and common letter patterns, other academic subjects will come naturally. Practice makes perfect, though. I have several engaging and hands on games/activities that will make learning so fun, students will barely realize they're learning at all...until they see their grades improving!
I am extremely reliable. I have my own vehicle and am always on time. I am very energetic and love coming up with new and creative ways to help students learn what may have been challenging for them, at first. I am a true believer that learning should be fun and hands on! I look forward to hearing from you soon :)" less...
