"I currently attend Brandeis University studying history and legal studies, while being a Humanities Fellow and International Business Scholar. I have always had a passion for history and the humanities while in high school, and I would love to use my skills and talents in that field to not only help students achieve their goals in school/for AP tests, but also earn some extra money to help my parents pay for my studies in university. History is an often neglected class for many students, and being able to not only prepare students for their classes and exams, but also foster a love for the subject, is a goal of mine in working with Wyzant.
I've worked with children ages 3-14 for 5 years with the Boys and Girls' Club from tutoring in basic core curriculum studies to PSAT prep, both as a volunteer and a paid employee. My own personal studies in history have been successful, as I have received a 4 on the AP U.S. History exam, and a 5 on the AP World History exam. I've volunteered over 50 hours in high school to tutoring my peers when possible, both through NHS and my own outreach.

Having had both kinds of teachers, I've observed the teaching strategies that do and don't work in teaching history. To understand history, I believe it deserves to be shown as the narrative it is. Seeing a reduction history to a slew of dates, times, and consequences is something that motivates me to help others see the narrative, and the value to it. As history repeats itself, I firmly believe it grows importance with every development in our world." less...
