"Hello! I hold a PhD in History from the University of Houston and have teaching experience in the private high school setting.
Prior to my doctoral studies, I graduated from UT Austin in May 2013 with a B.A. in History with high honors and also completed an English minor. I earned an overall GPA of 3.97 in my upper-division History coursework and a 4.0 GPA in my upper-division English coursework. I graduated from UT in three years.
Before enrolling in graduate school, I worked as a College Access Coach, helping students with SAT/ACT prep, major and career exploration, application essay writing, and the college selection and application process. This was a wonderful opportunity for me--I can't imagine a more fun and rewarding job!
I would love the opportunity to assist students with their essay writing, English and History assignments, and SAT/ACT test prep. I've seen first hand just how important these test scores are for gaining admission to higher-tier universities and know that students can greatly improve their scores once armed with the necessary knowledge and skills. My speciality is the ACT English section, as I've seen many of my students' scores improve with a little review, guidance, and of course, practice. With regard to History, my specialty is in Early Modern Europe (1450-1700), and I also have four years of experience as a TA for American History courses.
Additionally, for those high school and/or college students struggling in basic language requirement classes in French, I would be more than happy to help. I earned a 4.0 in both of the required French classes at UT (601C & 611C), as well as a 4.0 in the course immediately following (317C).
