"After spending a few semesters at Wake Forest University, I finished my bachelor's at Southern Methodist University (SMU) while working full-time. Then I began grad school at the University of Dallas (UD), where I ultimately earned an MA in English and a PhD in Literature (writing my dissertation on medieval philosophy and literature). I also took classes in philosophy, Latin, and French during grad school, and I taught undergrads at UD and SMU during that time as well.

Around the same time that I started grad school, I started tutoring for an established tutoring center in Dallas. A few months later, my wife and I assumed ownership of the center after the founding owner decided he could no longer run it. We ran it successfully for a number of years until we had to move across the country so I could accept a full-time teaching position at a university.

I spent 6 years teaching various courses in English and Composition (Comp 1 and 2; Grammar; Intros to Poetry, Narrative, and Drama; History of the English Language; World Lit 1; and special topics courses) at the University of Mary.
