"I have been a certificated California high school Chemistry teacher for 24 years, and have experience at all levels (including more than 10-15 years in IB and AP and Honors Chemistry, as well as developing an ESL Chemistry course for which my methods have been used in training OC teachers). I have a BS-Magna Cum Laude in Chemical Engineering, plus a Master's of Arts in Health Services Management, as well as four years of active duty military service in the Medical Service Corps (following two years at the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY, at which I was member of the very first class of female students admitted in 1976, and was subsequently selected as the Distinguished Military Graduate from the US Army ROTC program in Rolla, MO in 1980). All four of my children, coincidentally, have graduated from US Service Academies (three daughters are US Coast Guard Academy graduates, and my son is currently a C-17 pilot serving in the US Air Force). I have the background education and teaching success, as well as the personal career guidance success, to be an asset not only in Chemistry teaching, but in college application success as well.
Additionally, I have many years of Algebra 1 summer school teaching experience, as well as one year in physics, physical science, and earth science, plus many private chemistry tutoring positions (both individual and group settings), such as helping a few nursing students brush up on their chemistry knowledge, as well as helping high school students preparing for AP exams.
I also have been an adviser and/or participant in public speaking and essay writing competitions, and academic decathlon teams.
I absolutely love teaching/tutoring chemistry and am willing to tutor in my home, your home, or at any other public/private setting that is convenient to us both. I have recently retired from full-time teaching so my availability has greatly increased." less...
