"I am a junior in the Macaulay Honors Program at Baruch College and I have been tutoring for the past 5 years. I specialize in High School Mathematics (Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, Trigonometry, Pre-Geometry, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus and SAT math). In addition, I am also available to tutor AP Calculus and AP Macroeconomics. My approach to tutor someone is to have them take an evaluation test and then I start on the subjects in which they are the weakest. After they are doing better in that topic, I go back to the first topic in the curriculum and work through the syllabus one more time. Of course, I also prepare them for any imminent tests or homework help they might require. I make use of resources such as Khan Academy and my own class notes.
Currently, I tutor a freshman from my high school in Algebra I and Geometry as the core subjects. Aside from those subjects I also provide any help she might need in Living Environment (Biology) and Regents Prep (NYS exams). I help my brother (10th grade) in all his school subjects and my supervision has greatly helped in bringing up his grade. I am comfortable with students both my age and younger and that helps me help them effectively.
I have a 3.98 GPA in college and my SAT score was 1420 (780 math). I am also involved in multiple extracurriculars at my university. What makes me a good tutor is I see my students' success as my own and I find it extremely rewarding. I try to give them advice from my own experiences that might help them succeed. I encourage them to think for themselves and make their own decisions. I try to be their friend because they already have enough teachers and authority figures.
