"Hi! My name is Emilia, and I recently graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Philosophy from Fordham University, where I was the recipient of a 4-year full-tuition merit scholarship. I enjoyed doing the work for my degree, because I was so passionate about the material. I hope to transmit this same excitement to my students through tutoring! I am here to help you apply strategies to break down difficult texts, draw connections, and gain a deeper comprehension of a given work. And, hopefully, realize how rewarding this process can be!

Throughout college, I worked as a peer-tutor for essay revisions. With my foundation in argument-building from Philosophy, I helped students workshop their papers to more clearly articulate complex ideas. We worked together to evaluate the quality of their provisional thesis in addition to developing their unique writing style.

Beyond the humanities, I have experience tutoring topics in AP/Honors Biology and Chemistry for high school students. I also recently completed the Premedical Post-Baccalaureate program at Johns Hopkins, where I graduated with a 3.8 GPA.

Like writing, STEM skills are only strengthened through time and a lot of meaningful practice. It can be very intimidating to try to approach problems when you feel like you are totally lost and lack the tools to even get started. As someone who has switched from humanities to a science track, I know first-hand how daunting it is! However, I soon learned that just because something doesn’t come “easily” at first does NOT mean you can’t master it eventually! I am here to help you review the material and drill practice problems until going through each step to reach the solution feels like second nature.
