"Confidence is key! I am currently at Johns Hopkins University studying Electrical Engineering. I have been teaching and tutoring for 6 years, from individually tutoring elementary school students to teaching group classes of 20+ high schoolers. Nothing makes me happier than seeing students get their 'aha!' moment, and if a student isn't feeling more confident when they leave, I haven't done my job!
Test Prep: I have prepared and taken both SAT and ACT (scored 1550+ and 35), so I understand the material required to score highly on both, as well as the mental/mindset challenges students may face when preparing for and during the test. Beyond just explaining the content, I also blend in strategies to efficiently test, ensuring students can best manage their timing, progress, and don't get caught in the 'mind games' of the test.
Each student will have a running 'tip-sheet' that we build together, filled with tricky formulas, time-saving strategies and fool-proof approaches for common questions.
College Application Review: As a student at Johns Hopkins, I have firsthand experience navigating the rigorous college admissions process, from polishing applications to T10 universities, to brainstorming supplemental essays, I help students build applications that STAND OUT. I meticulously edit essays before reviewing the feedback via virtual weekly meeting with the student. I emphasize strategic planning and revision techniques, maximizing applications and minimizing stress! If you have any questions, please message me!
Writing: I have years of experience tutoring AP Lit, AP Lang, and other writing courses, and understand how to take abstract ideas and condense them down into a format matches both the rubric and students' mindest.
One unique aspect of my tutoring is my emphasis on the soft skills needed to succeed in school, clubs, and beyond. I aim to help students gain more confidence in their communication and how they express their ideas. Please message me with any questions you may have!" less...
