"Hello, my name is Sudharshan, and I’m a junior pursuing my undergraduate degree in Electronics & Systems Engineering. In high school, I maintained a 4.0 GPA and scored 1530 on the SAT. Both in high school and college, I’ve had the chance to work with supportive professors and peers, which really inspired me to become that same resource for others so that they too could succeed and potentially go on to help more people.

I began tutoring in high school, working with 7 students from grades 9th-11th on SAT math, reading, and writing for two years. We met twice a week after school, reviewing test sections together. Group sessions were focused on answering shared questions, while one-on-one sessions targeted individual needs, helping students improve their understanding on the material in whatever way they needed. I also provided my contact info for any questions that arose outside of our sessions although that communication will now happen through Wyzant. During my freshman and sophomore years of college, I also tutored 5 students in Calculus, Discrete Math, and C++, with one-on-one sessions conducted over Zoom to accommodate different schedules. In my sessions, I start with a brief overview of what we’ll cover, followed by the lesson. The student then works on practice problems, and we finish with a Q&A to address any remaining questions about the material. My teaching does remain flexible however to better suit the student.

I strongly believe that positive reinforcement encourages learning, and I work to ensure students feel comfortable asking questions. Before every session, I prepare a detailed plan for the session covering what materials will be needed, what this specific student responds better to, and exact sections or content that needs to be covered, but I also ask students what they want to focus on to ensure the lesson meets their goals.
