"Hello, this isn't the Krusty Krab or the ER, this is Patrick. I've worked mostly with students who likely get the first reference, but I also have experience working with students who might get the second. I have a year of tutoring experience (writing and geography) at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, five and a half years of tutoring experience at Pierpont Community and Technical College (writing), and about six years of experience teaching (English Composition) at West Virginia University. Most of my tutoring experience has been in person, but I have helped some students online, and I have a mix of in-person and online experience teaching and providing extra support for my undergraduate students.
I have a fascination with the Humanities on a broad scale. In undergrad, I couldn't quite "collect them all" for the offered undergraduate majors, but I took a good stab at it. I completed majors in Creative Writing, French, and Multimedia & Digital Culture and tacked on a minor in English Literature after I decided to apply to graduate programs in English. After graduating, I went on to complete my Master's in Literary & Cultural Studies/English at West Virginia University. I taught courses and took courses from WVU for two years then continued teaching full time after finishing my degree.
Most of my experience is in working with students to learn how to write in public-facing genres like personal narratives, profiles, or editorials and in academic genres like scholarly-esque research reports. I have worked with students writing in a variety of disciplines, mostly in the context of English Composition courses, but occasionally for courses in other departments such as Psychology and Creative Writing. I am a published author of short fiction, and my primary area of focus in my academic studies was 19th century British literature." less...
