"I have SI-ed for a Chem class at my local community college and students have found me very helpful. I have tutored at a math center. I also was a tutor for a Chemistry major specific class.
I love tutoring students because I enjoy seeing the look of satisfaction on an individual’s face when he or she understands the topic. It means that I did my job as a tutor. Every student needs a good tutor to supplement what he/she is learning in class. I have taken four semesters of math and I know how to make concepts similar to understand. I have attended many in person tutoring sessions, and I myself have had success in the subjects I went tutoring for like Gen Chem II, Biology I, and Organic Chemistry II. I do a great job in preparing students for an exam.
The way that a student knows if he/she understood the material is by doing constant questioning. I am an aficionado of the Socratic method, which involves me asking questions about how the student came up with the answer to that specific question. I also try to make the student go deeper into the material that he/she is learning. In the end, it is about understanding the material to such a deep level that he/she can literally apply the information learned to any problem he/she might have to do on an exam. There are no more excuses about a problem being too difficult. Remember, more practice results in a better grade in the math/science class!
