"Hello, my name is Muller and I am a research scientist who loves to teach. Whether I am tutoring undergraduates in organic chemistry, leading discussion groups of undergraduates or mentoring new hires, teaching has always been important to me.

I first began tutoring when I was working as an undergraduate, where I organized study sessions for those started taking chemistry. Many people took these courses because they were requirements for several majors and were also part of the premed requirements. These courses were notorious among the student body and I noticed that my friends were struggling with the material. So, I prepared lectures, study materials, practice tests and reading sessions for my friends. Thanks to these lessons, they passed.

After finishing my undergraduate degree, I continued to teach as part of my graduate school curriculum. I was working towards my PhD in UC Berkeley and finishing the program required teaching three semesters of chemistry. I taught study sessions that were hosted by the university as supplements to the lectures. In these study sessions, I presented problem sets to students and went to each of them to help them complete them. I also hosted office hours and study sessions to prepare the students for tests. My students in these courses had widely varying backgrounds and levels of familiarity with the material, so I quickly learned how to tailor the material to each student.

After completing my education, I went to work in the private sector, as a physicist at an MRI startup. While working on the development of the MRI scanner, I also taught new hires about the principles of MRI. I did this by writing lecture series, making videos and hosting one on one sessions with new hires so that they could quickly get up to speed. Almost all of these hires had no experience with MRI and did not have the same backgrounds as each other, so I had to prepare teaching material that was comprehensible to them. Thanks to my efforts, my coworkers became proficient in the fundamentals o" less...
