I'm Joy, 28, Scranton resident, certified teacher, volunteer teacher for over ten years, and tutor for elementary through college above and beyond. I have extensive background in all subjects. I have taught in grades kindergarten to 8th grade, including the arts and learning support in public and private schools.
As a volunteer teacher, I abide by the required curriculum standards in addition to using a variety of teaching skills and tools for all learning styles. I accommodate and adapt to students who learn visually, by hearing, by feeling, and by speaking. As a private tutor for elementary students, I currently tutor a 3rd grader and 7th grader and use a variety of teaching tools to help them reach their full potential as a student and as a person.
In addition, I have tutored students at two universities in college study skills, writing skills, and other courses as well. My method of a tutoring session consists of the first session being a "get to know you" session, in that the students get to know me and I get to know the students.
