"I am a Prep for Prep and Dalton alumna who is an avid writer. I have a strong intuitive grasp of the English language. I consistently received perfect or near perfect scores on English standardized tests, and I am also a member of the National Society of High School Scholars based on my PSAT scores. I am a winner of the Scholastic Art and Writing Award for Short Story. I was a National Achievement Semifinalist and a National Merit Commended Student, based on a combination of academic achievement and SAT. I attended Drew University for one year and will be completing an associates degree at Bronx Community College before getting a bachelor's of science. My major is economics. I have academic experience using the Chicago Manual of Style as well as Modern Language Association. I have also done some transcribing work which enables me to reinforce my knowledge of English grammar rules.

This is my first venture into tutoring professionally, but I have done volunteer tutoring. I typically work with younger students, under ten years of age, with reading comprehension and writing. I use a traditional approach that includes drills, vocabulary and grammar lessons but also includes creative and fun reading and verbal responses so children can develop more natural and intuitive relationships with reading and writing. I like kids to have the confidence to figure out words and phrases by themselves using context and logic. I also encourage kids to improve penmanship based on methods that helped me when I was in elementary school.

I am excited to help children have a better relationship with language and inspire them to be readers and writers. Hopefully we can work together to personalize study programs and schedules to fit individual needs.
