"Hello, my name is David. I grew up here in North Carolina. I started tutoring when I was in high school helping other kids in my class to improve their grades and better understand the classes. After finishing school I taught ESL at 3 different elementary schools helping LEP students learn and improve their English Language skills while also helping English speaking students improve their comprehension as well. I have tutored on various occasions for different subjects in the last 20 years including: drafting and design, guitar, music, math, science, Spanish, English, speech writing and public speaking.
I like to tutor in an organized and interactive way by helping the person to think through the process and what is involved to reach their goal instead of just giving an answer for them to memorize. I want the person to understand what they are learning so that they develop their skills as a problem solver which will help them in any facet of their future, not just a tutoring session right now.
I worked for 20 years as a professional interpreter/translator in the Human Services field with people of all ages, backgrounds and experiences and have done volunteer community service work to help other in my community including doing relief work after various natural disasters.
I have worked with Excel for many years, creating custom spreadsheets for various office uses including financial sheets, schedules and inventory.
I taught LEP students English including vocabulary and reading to improve their language proficiency ranging from elementary school to adults.
I created, edited and published files in Word for various office uses including translated documents.
I took 3 years of design and drafting and have worked for over 20 doing design for architectural and civil designs for new construction, remodels, additions, including plot plans, elevations, MEP, 3D photo rendering, 3D video renderings, detail drawings.
I have tutored various beginner students at guitar, teaching them basic guitar termi" less...
