"As a nursing supervisor, I have been teaching and mentoring nurses for my career. I teach unfamiliar policies or procedures to staff as part of my job. As part of my teaching, I review all the steps that need to be completed. Then I use SODOTO (see one, do one, teach one) method so that novice nurses can see how they are to perform the task before completing the task themselves.

In teaching for exams, I recommend that students make flash cards and then study off the flash cards. Writing terms, definitions and diagnoses on cards and then reviewing the cards helps with memory retention.

I have been a code nurse for 28 years. I encourage staff to participate in the code. If staff are hesitant to participate, I encourage staff to watch what I am doing during the code.

I have an undergraduate degree in Biology and Nursing. I have studied Anatomy and Physiology for both degrees and use this knowledge in my job daily
