"I was a teacher abroad in Australia for sixteen years. I have taught K-6 grade. I have opened three ESL programs in elementary schools. I love teaching reading and writing. I love teaching ESL. I speak some Spanish. I am also a Caregiver. I worked in large Group Homes for the elderly. I have tutored children and feel very rewarded when I see children excel and learn and love to learn. I am a hands-on teacher. I incorporate music, dancing, and art through teaching reading and writing. My third graders won state with their Science experience. I look for the best in children. I like one-on-one teaching so the child can get individual attention that they need to grasp the concepts and succeed.
I have taught ESL for many years both in Elementary Schools and Community College/Adult Education. I like to teach reading with acting out the story, telling the story, learning the vocabulary and finally reading the story. Children learn with my style of teaching.
I am very individualized. Even in my classroom, children have individual folders to work at their level. I do encourage and insist the child gains skills to be on or above grade level. I am very flexible with my time. I will also make time for tutoring and should I get enough hours tutoring, I may not need to teach in a local school. Let me meet you and together make a plan for your child to learn and be on grade level." less...
