"I began informal classes teaching of ESOL to soldiers of the Honduran Army in 1991. I have continued informal classes since then. I began formal classes of teaching ESOL March 2016. I am volunteering with Greenville Literacy Associates where I have taught classes at Levels 1-6. Most of my classes there are with level 3. I am currently teaching at ESL@Clemson in Greenville, SC. I am teaching speaking classes as well as reading and writing classes.

As I have traveled to different countries around the world, I have found people interested in learning the English language. I have always tried to learn a few words in their language and to get to know their culture. I have always found that the more I learn about a persons culture, the easier it is to relate to each other. This helps us connect and learn from each other. It helps me to understand what they are having trouble understanding.

I have just completed my M. ED. - ESOL. I have enjoyed the classes of single individuals as well as large group classes. I am retired US Air Force which has allowed me to travel to many different countries and learn many different cultures. I have had the opportunity to teach English in many of these countries that I have traveled to. I have taught English to beginning English learners up to and including graduate school bound students.

My teaching schedule with ELS@Clemson changes on occasion. I am available sometimes in the mornings and mostly afternoons after 4:00. I can do classes in person and on-line. After you contact me, we can set a time that works best for both of us." less...
