"I have been a math teacher and English teacher since 1995, focusing on math. I have tutored students individually throughout that time. I believe each person constructs meaning out of the world and individual discussion helps people make sense of what they see and experience. I decided to focus on teaching math because I have also struggled with math in the past and so understand what kinds of trouble other people might experience, and because it is so essential in our modern world to understand graphs and statistics.

I have worked with middle and high school students as a classroom teacher, a tutor and doing SAT Prep. I have also done tutoring work in calculus with not only high school students, but also college students.

I am most talented in individually analyzing why someone is struggling in a particular area and finding ways to change and expand their understanding. I have worked with both advanced and struggling students and have helped them all.

In recent years, I have spent huge amounts of time analyzing the new Common Core Regents Exams and requirements. My students have made huge progress in passing the Algebra I Regents. I can predict a number of topics that are likely to show up and the format in which they will appear and share that information with you. I have also analyzed the newer Geometry and Algebra II Exams, but since they are so new, I have fewer results to back up my understanding.
