"I am proud to be an education specialist graduating with a master's degree in education focusing on special education from CSU Chico, an added authorization as a Reading and Language specialist from San Diego Office of Education, and a credential in special education authorizing me to work with mild/moderate and moderate/severe students through National University, Sacramento CA.
My 14 years of teaching experience includes working in a residential facility with a Special Day Class, teaching at a level 12 non-public school for severely emotionally disturbed students, a Resource Specialist Program
position in an international baccalaureate high school, a juvenile hall classroom setting, a
comprehensive middle school campus with a hybrid SDC/RSP style classroom for mild/mod/severe
students and also the virtual classroom, independent study homeschool programs and teaching English as a foreign language for students overseas. I am presently completing an international program focusing on the Orton-Gillingham approach to the Science of Reading, specifically supporting dyslexic students. Each of these settings has been full of colorful people, and I believe they have made me a more solid special education teacher. If nothing else, I am highly adaptable to a wide range of settings.
I pride myself in writing differentiated lesson plans to address a wide variety of needs for specialized academic instruction and Universal Design for Learning. I connect my student assessments, observations, and work samples with their IEP goals and in turn lesson plans to give my students the best possible chance at success in their academics.
I believe that all students are capable of learning. At times it is challenging to find the right combination to free up a student’s mind to expand their understanding of academics, but well worth the effort." less...
