"My love for science began when I was in high school. I graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School in New York with a major in chemistry. Chemistry came very easy to me and I began tutoring students in college when I was a 17 year old freshman. I can recall the first student that I tutored. He was frustrated with dimensional analysis, but when I broke it down into its fundamental concepts, he slowly managed to grasp the concept and did well in his course. That student is now a pediatrician.
Even when I started medical school, my love for tutoring did not end as I continued to help students with college chemistry. However, it wasn't until I attend law school that I fell in love with helping students prep for exams. I learned how to teach the SAT and began tutoring high school students. Shortly after that, I took an interest in helping pre medical students prepare for the MCAT and spent nearly ten years working with individuals, organizations, and medical schools to help students "beat the exam." In addition to the SAT and MCAT, I have returned to my roots and have tutored students for the new SHSAT for NYC specialized high schools.
It is my mission to show students that no subject or exam is beyond their comprehension. By breaking down a topic to its basic elements, any student can achieve greatness. When I worked as a pre med advisor, I came across many students who did not start out strong, especially when it came to chemistry, but when I worked with them, they developed the proper skills, motivation, and encouragement to succeed.
Persistence will always overcome resistance.
I have had a passion for science all my life. With that passion, I have tutored chemistry, biology, and anatomy for almost twenty years. My passion has helped college students to succeed in their science pre requisites for medical school.
Law school teaches one how to be critical and analytical. I taught these same skills to students to help them succeed on the SAT Reading sections. If I can interpret contrac" less...
