"I obtained my B.S. and M.S. in Urban Forestry from Southern University and A&M College. I have extensive experience with teaching and tutoring. I am confident that my experience will serve me well in the aforementioned position.

In the past, I have been employed by the Army Corps of Engineer as a GIS (Geographic Information Systems) Park Ranger. One of my many duties was implementing and conducting educational workshops. This consisted of junior high, senior high and junior college students within the Mobile District. I have the initiative, imagination and organizational qualities to assist in the development of various programs within the Corps. I also, have been a full time Substitute teacher at HIS for the past 3 years and have taught science at other middle and high schools. I have also spent time as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Southern University. This consisted of my skills in writing analytical reports and grant proposals, creating spreadsheets for various databases.

The teaching-learning process is an inherently a social act, and as teachers we need to be mindful of the quality of the social and emotional dynamics in our class, because it will impact learning and the performance of the students. In a productive setting students can learn to work effectively that will facilitate the development of skills such as leadership and communication.

I specialize in tutoring science (not including chemistry or physics) and history for success in school and for all of Louisiana standardize state testing. One of my goals for each session is to keep the student challenged but never overwhelmed with his/her studies. I will assign homework after each lesson and provide progress reports and other academic assessments to student and parent(s).

I hold myself to a very high standard. I will often ask for feedback and I will strongly make any changes if necessary.
