"Hi! I'm Ashleigh, and I am a Ph.D. student in industrial/organizational psychology. I have a passion for learning and teaching, and I've been tutoring high school and undergraduate students on and off in math, statistics, psychology, and writing for over 10 years. I am both an instructor and a mentor, so I am dedicated to helping my students succeed in the classroom and in their careers.
As a Ph.D. student in industrial/organizational psychology, I have completed 24 credit hours of courses in statistics ranging from basic descriptive and inferential statistics to psychometrics and meta-analysis. Over the last 5 years, I have worked as a data analyst and taught statistical fundamentals to undergraduate students in the classroom and during 1-on-1 sessions. My goal as an instructor is to facilitate learning and long-term retention and usage of information by showing students how various statistical concepts apply to the real world. This is my approach to teaching statistics in the classroom, and this is the same approach I employ in 1-on-1 tutoring. I also use this approach to teach psychological concepts as many of these concepts directly relate to personal experiences.
Over the last 4 years, I have taught several introductory psychology courses to undergraduate students. Consequently, I can explain the fundamentals of psychology in ways that make sense to new and seasoned learners. I also have substantial experience writing and editing academic-style research papers using APA formatting. I served several semesters as an instructor of a research methods lab where I taught students how to write research papers and improve the style of their academic writing.
As an instructor, I love the work I do. So, if you're looking for a tutor to encourage you and work at your pace, let's chat about ways that I can help." less...
