"I've always been interested in foreign languages and other cultures. While living in New York City, I hosted many international visitors and always enjoyed coaching them on their English. So a couple years ago, I decided to get a certificate in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) at The New School in New York City. The program focused on practical techniques and emphasized lessons that integrate grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, reading, writing, listening, and speaking. During my time at The New School, I taught a small group of Chinese- and Spanish-speaking students for about eighteen months, and I also taught another group of Arabic-speaking students for about nine months. I returned to Western Pennsylvania in early 2014. I'm currently an ESL tutor with the Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council. In my professional career, I've worked with Information Systems and have over 20 years of experience working with a Fortune 50 company, much of that time with international peers and clients. To stay current, I have attended the TESOL International Convention & English Language Expo since I started working in this field. For students pursuing careers in international business or information technology, I'm well-versed in the specialized terms of those fields. I look forward to working with you." less...
