"I am a 4.0 GPA senior in college majoring in History and minoring in Women's and Gender Studies. My minor is multi-disciplinary and, therefore, I have a lot of experience in other fields (English, Sociology, Theology, Art, etc); I'm also working towards a certificate in French. When I graduated high school, I did so with honors and multiple 4 or 5 scores on AP exams. I also excelled in English, Reading, and Writing on the ACT; I achieved an 11/12 on the writing portion which is within the 1% of test-takers.

I've been working at my college's Writing Center for nearly 2 years, helping students to improve their essays and their ability to write overall. It has given me an immense amount of fulfillment to guide students and to aid them in learning how to become better writers, not just better prompt-answerers. The appointments I host typically include reading the student's essay, highlighting some key areas for improvement, and walking through a personalized lesson to help them improve weaknesses I noticed in their work. This might look like a small interactive lesson on thesis writing, working with them to workshop their tone, helpful tips on grammar, or simply helping them to get started on their work with brainstorming. We all know the hardest part of writing an essay is getting started.

This being said, the majority of my work has been 1-on-1 with college students of all ages in our library; occasionally a high school student or two. I am open to any age of advanced writing as long as the student is engaged in improving their writing beyond simply receiving my advice. My academically lucrative and successful students/appointments have engaged in conversation with me, workshopped, and were, overall, focused on improving their writing beyond answering the prompt.
