"I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry and Biophysics with a minor in Mathematics at the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn), an Ivy League institution. In tandem with my undergraduate studies, I am also working towards a Master's degree in Chemistry, focusing on synthetic chemistry and biology research. My robust educational background equips me with a deep understanding of scientific and mathematical principles, enabling me to offer a comprehensive tutoring experience in these subjects.
Over the past few years, I have accumulated substantial teaching and tutoring experience in various educational settings. I began as a temporary teacher and lab assistant at Naparima College in Trinidad and Tobago, where I taught integrated science, physics, and chemistry to over 300 students aged 13-15. This role not only honed my ability to communicate complex ideas in an understandable manner but also deepened my appreciation for nurturing student curiosity and understanding in STEM fields. Subsequently, at the University of Pennsylvania, I worked as a teaching assistant for courses in scientific computing and mathematics. My responsibilities have included creating and grading assignments, holding regular office hours, and providing support to groups of undergraduate students, thereby improving their academic performance and confidence in mathematical applications.
Additionally, my role as a tutor at the Weingarten Center at UPenn has allowed me to work closely with small groups and individuals, tailoring my instructional methods to suit different learning styles and needs. This experience has been instrumental in developing my skills in personalized education, particularly in facilitating students' mastery of complex concepts in both mathematics and the sciences.
Through these varied teaching roles, I have learned to adapt my communication and educational strategies to effectively engage and support students from diverse backgrounds and learning abilities." less...
