"Hi everyone! My name is Kyle, and I am a Columbia University graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science-Mathematics and Psychology. I have 10 years of tutoring experience across all ages and math subjects including Elementary Math, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, Calculus (single and multivariable), and SAT Math.
In high school, I received a 5 on the AP Calculus exam and an 800 on the Math SAT. In college, I was a peer undergraduate tutor for Calculus, a teaching assistant for Linear Algebra, an ESL assistant teacher, and an elementary school reading mentor. Most recently, I completed a Fulbright English Teaching Fellowship where I independently taught English in Thailand during the 2020-2021 academic year.
My tutoring methodology is catered to the individual student. I like to become familiar with my student and their thinking process. The sooner I can understand their thinking towards a math problem, the sooner I can assist with individualized techniques for solving problems. This helps students learn how to solve current problems they struggle with, as well as how to better approach problem-solving in the future. Working through individualized methods at solving problems allows for a natural bottom-up understanding of concepts, which can then be repeated with new concepts a student encounters in the future.
In all my experience tutoring and teaching, I always enjoy the moment when students finally understand something they did not understand before. Seeing that "ah-ha" moment in my student's eyes is why tutoring is so fulfilling for me. I hope to continue helping more students and see that "ah-ha" moment in their eyes too.
If you are interested in tutoring, please send me a message. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have about scheduling (I'm flexible), my tutoring methodology, or anything else you would like to know. I hope to hear from you soon!" less...
