"Hello! My name is Ana, and I hope you will chose me to be your new tutor! I recently graduated from Dartmouth College with a double major in English and Music, cum laude, achieving a final GPA of 3.86. I also scored a 1540 on my SAT after two months of self-study. I have about a year and a half of teaching experience, having organized and led informal classes (both for several students at a time and one-on-one) in a college setting on various topics, ranging from history to philosophy.
My pedagogical approach is characterized by a desire to not only spark curiosity in my students, but to equip them with the necessary intellectual tools to unravel the answers on their own. This avoids the common pitfalls of rote memorization or simply 'giving out answers,' instead leading students through a more challenging, yet more rewarding learning pathway. My goal in doing so is to encourage a deeper level of understanding and engagement with the material. That way, what they learn will not only stick until the next test comes around, but will serve them throughout the rest of their educational journey. In my view, this level of understanding is the mark of true academic excellence, and it is what I set out to achieve with all my students.
A little more about me: I have 3 years of part-time work experience in publishing and social media. I am a native speaker of both English and Spanish, and an intermediate speaker of French. I am an aspiring writer, I play the piano, guitar, and bass, and I have a deep love of literature, philosophy, and history." less...
