"Hi! I am Skye L. I tutor students in writing, reading, and test prep for the English, Reading, and Writing portions of the SAT/ACT. I graduated cum laude from Barnard College of Columbia University, where I studied English with a concentration in writing. I've worked in publishing for over three years, providing editorial feedback and proofreading for manuscripts ranging from non-fiction to fiction to hybrid forms.
I am uniquely qualified to help my students across a wide range of writing, especially for applications. Having been on both sides of the application process, I understand what readers are looking for and how to make an application stand out. I guide students through the writing process from the beginning to the end, helping them devise unique responses to prompts, providing feedback on the multiple drafts a given essay might take, and providing in-line edits for grammar and concision. Central to my tutoring approach is establishing a collaborative environment where the student's unique writing voice shines through: my goal is always to support them in making the strongest case, through their writing, for why they deserve the position or opportunity they are applying for.
I am also qualified to support students in middle and high school English classes, including those struggling with reading comprehension. Additionally, I am prepared to help students prepare for the English, Reading, and Writing portions of the SAT and ACT. I am a patient listener and love nothing more than to see my students succeed and grow as writers, readers, and learners. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule a lesson!" less...
