"Hello! I’m Mami, a Japanese language and violin teacher.
**Japanese Lessons** I was born and raised in Japan and moved to New York in 2000 to continue my education after working for five years at a Japanese company in Tokyo. I have expertise in business Japanese, including honorific language. I visit Japan annually and have experience tutoring middle school students. I completed the Japanese language teacher training course at Japan Society NYC in April 2019 and began teaching Japanese classes as an assistant during the course. My Japanese lessons are tailored to each student’s needs, designed to be enjoyable and build your confidence.
**Violin Lessons** I began studying the violin at age six with the Suzuki method at the Suzuki Violin School West Tokyo Branch. At twelve, I apprenticed with Mr. Haruo Katayama, former principal second violin of the New Philharmonic Orchestra and a teacher at Musashino Music College. I have been teaching violin in New York since 2012. My students, ranging from beginners to more advanced levels, develop skills in playing, reading music, and understanding tune and rhythm. I incorporate etudes, scales, Suzuki method, and other text books, customizing lessons for each student’s level and age. --- Feel free to adjust any details as needed!" less...
