"I have been doing music since I was little. I used to play around on piano and learn different video game songs. As I got into elementary school I did two years of orchestra where my biggest achievement was memorizing the William Tell Overture on Violin. In middle school I started what is now my almost 10 year trek as a saxophonist. By my 8th grade year I was first tenor in the middle school Jazz Band. In high school I took part in the marching band, wind ensemble, and 1st Jazz Band. I often held section leader and lead saxophone roles on both Alto and Tenor Saxophone. By my junior year of high school I was playing at collegiate level in the CBC Jazz Band as their second tenor. I held both First Tenor and Second Tenor throughout my 3 years at CBC (2 of running start and 1 to finish my degree) and by my last I was Lead Tenor. My second year, we recorded a CD labeled "Extensions." I'm currently a Student at Eastern Washington University where upon audition I got into the Concert Jazz Orchestra as their second Tenor. CJO just ended the year by recording a CD, which I'm sure will release soon-ish.
I'm going for my BM in Composition and along the way taking up any chance to play or perform I can get. The instruments I play and have played are Saxophone ranging from Tenor to Soprano, Flute from a doubled instrument, Clarinet as a doubled instrument which I'm currently in the process of learning, and Piano from a hobby/well-rounded musician standpoint.
The majority of my qualifications are listed in my bio, but I have been playing saxophone for almost 10 years now, 5 of which have been at the collegiate level. Upon the recommendation of my second year theory professor, I have been letting people know If they need help with theory to come ask me. I generally understand concepts in theory that are harder to grasp and have an easier time explaining them.
Contact me by email or phone, would love to tutor and teach kids up to adults how to read music, do theory, or even just learn saxophone." less...
