"Hi!
My name is James and my most recent educational endeavor was in Biomedical Engineering (emphasis on signal processing and medical devices). During my time at Johns Hopkins, I did projects on RAGT (Robot Assisted Gait Training) control systems, analyzed gait patterns in ALS, CP, and stroke patients, and worked on BCI (Brain-Computer Interface) prosthetic control and pattern detection. Since graduating with my Master's, I have been working as Data Scientist and Analyst, although I have a strong passion for teaching in my spare time.
Tutoring and mentoring high achieving students has been a major part of my life since 2004. During that time I have done everything from SAT and AP test prep to teaching college courses and (almost) everything in between. As a tutor, I have assisted hundreds of students with college prep including courses, activities, and application essay planning and revision. Many of my former students have gone on to universities such as Brown, Berkeley, UCLA, and NYU. My teaching experience spans from educating middle school students all the way up to grad school students, so I am able to adapt to quite a range of academic levels.
Lately, my tutoring time has been dedicated to mentoring students and assisting them in developing research projects. Recent topics have primarily focused on time series analysis, biomedical signals (like EEG and EKG), and stock market/asset value analysis. Furthermore, I have trained mentees in the requisite knowledge to perform related research, write up research papers and abstracts, and design posters for conferences around the U.S.
If my background appeals to you, I would love to chat with you further.
Have a great day!" less...
