Having spent two years working with adolescents aged 11-17 at an inpatient psychiatric ward, I found myself regularly providing individual academic help to patients with varying degrees of autism, mood and personality disorders, and ADHD in a classroom setting. Exposure to such an expansive spectrum of the human condition has allowed me to develop communication skills, patience, and an understanding of how to effectively adapt to meet each student's personal and academic needs. Identifying and helping students through mental hangups and accommodating them on "off days" is not only second nature but a driving force to further my tutoring experience!
