I specialize in teaching beginning violin and music theory students. I am invested in providing a highly personalized, technically excellent and musically robust learning experience for each of my students, with emphasis on respectfully facilitating the joyful discovery of one’s unique path as a musician.
I began studying the Suzuki technique with Betty Haag in Chicago at the age of 4. By the time I was 8, I had played at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, Orchestra Hall in Chicago, and had concertized in Tokyo, Japan, Seoul, Korea, and Taipei, Taiwan. I moved to New York to study with Russian violin teacher Isaac Malkin, at Manhattan School of Music, where I studied composition, conducting, music theory, ear training, and won several violin competitions. At the age of 14, I was accepted into Juilliard pre-college to study with Dorothy DeLay, on a full scholarship. I played at Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall, among other distinguished venues. I have been teaching children and young adults for over 7 years, ranging from ages 4 to 13. I have developed my own instructional technique, which includes aspects of the Suzuki, Auer and Galamian methods. I offer guidance and resources for parents of beginner students, such as accompanying families when purchasing or renting the ideal first instrument, and all supplies needed to get off to a soaring and solid start.
Teaching is my passion - one shaped by my truly remarkable mentors, and an inherent love of the miraculous nature of the universal language of music. It is my honor to both teach and learn from my students. Please reach out to me with any questions and for further details regarding the possibility of embarking on a life changing musical journey together." less...
