"I have always loved teaching! In grade school, I and several other girls used to stay in during the noon recess and reteach whatever lesson had been taught that morning. We all became teachers when we grew up!
I view teaching as the sharing of knowledge. Every child learns differently, and I try in earnest to seek out what learning method works best for each student and using whatever resources are available in that endeavor. I majored in music education in college, but have since had the opportunity to teach other subjects in K-12. In addition to giving piano lessons, I have homeschooled mine and other parents children. Currently, I volunteer teach piano lessons at a local assistant living facility. I would like to help others who are having difficulty with certain subjects, or need help with homework assignments. Education is truly the key to success!
Music and Mathematics have some of the same traits: Music is math set to music! Both are very precise in nature. As a musician, I must use the precision of mathematics. Additionally, I have taught basic math to students in homeschooling situations, and as a substitute teacher.
I was always adept at grammer in school. As a former journalist for a weekly newspaper, grammer and spelling were of the utmost importance in anything I wrote. To this day, I constantly edit and re-edit everything I write.
Spelling was my forte in school. While I never made it to the national spelling bee, I was always adept at learning to spell. I discovered little tricks to help me with my own spelling skills, and now use them to teach others how to spell difficult words.
I hold a B.M. and a B.S. in Music Education degrees. I spent a year as a performance major in graduate school. At the time, I was being groomed for the opera as a coloratura soprano AND as a concert pianist. I have since taught piano, voice, and organ lessons to hundreds of students in private lessons and in classroom situations. I have also taught Music Theory and General Music.
I would love the opport" less...
