"My name is Keena, and I have a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Agriculture Education from Clemson University. As well as a Specialist Degree from Columbus State University in Special Education. I've become used to being in a math classroom ever since. I have been a teacher for fifteen years, most of those years spent in the Algebra classroom. Seven of the fifteen years were spent in special education. Since then, I've moved to teaching Algebra Concepts and Connections in a general education classroom. I am aware that not every student has an affinity for or enjoyment with math. I am certified in middle school math and working on my high certification.
I believe that my ability to see the needs of students and provide those needs—be it a passing grade or better test scores—is my strength or talent. I've been tutoring students in a variety of math subjects for six years, but right now I'm teaching ninth and tenth graders Algebra Concepts and Connections. This class is a lot like Algebra 1. Every student, in my opinion, learns differently. It is the responsibility of a teacher or tutor to identify each student's learning style and figure out how to best support them.
Since I want every kid to get something from my instruction and succeed, I'm open to recommendations from parents or other students. I'm accessible and will respond to inquiries right away. Please get in touch with me if you have any queries or to schedule a tutoring session." less...
