"I have always wanted to help young people, but more importantly, I've wanted to inspire them. I know that this is a lofty hope, but I think back to some of my teachers and the ones that inspired me and I became a teacher because of those people, and a better person. I believe I can best do these things as an educator.

My expertise based on my studies in college is history. My two specialties are world and American history. Within those two subjects, I know a great deal about each. In world history, my knowledge is strong from the ancient civilizations of Greece and Rome, through the early modern histories of East Asia and Europe, all the way through modern history starting after Christopher Columbus “discovery” of the new world to the Industrial Revolution that starts in Great Britain and spreads throughout the world. In American History, I am very knowledgeable from beginning to end, starting with the first Americans (Native Americans) all the way to the modern day in the 21st century.

Possibly more important than my knowledge is my experience with working with young people. I have been teaching, coaching and tutoring for many years now and I have developed great strategies to help students improve their grades. Students also sometimes struggle with organization and study skills, and I also work with them on these items as well.

I am always very honest with students. I believe that honesty is something that students appreciate when it comes from an outside source. When it comes from parents sometimes, students may not take it as seriously as they should because kids may not listen to parents as much as they should.

As your tutor, I work with both students and parents in hopes of achieving the goals that both may set. My hours are flexible and I am willing to make commitments to students and parents for the benefit of their success." less...
