"I have traveled extensively over the last 30 years teaching in Bolivia, Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Mexico, Haiti & the Dominican Republic. In addition I have assisted my wife with taking students abroad, including all three of our children, on educational tours to Spain, Portugal & Morocco. While learning is its own reward I have seen the power of knowledge transform lives and change the course of their destiny. Even in my own life this has proven true. I grew up extremely poor (we did not have indoor plumbing until I was in the 7th grade) and realized early on that an education was the way to escape the cycle of poverty. Knowledge expands our understanding of the world and others. I loved reading from an early age and it stirred within me a desire to see new places and experience new things. When working hard to master a subject it is always good to remember these primary things; knowledge is power, power to change your life and the lives of others; learning is fun and learning is a way to expand your mind to experience new and different cultures, people and ideas.

In addition to my bachelor's degree in Political Science and Economics I also have extensive studies in U.S. History, European History, World History and Geography. As a matter of fact I hold a certificate of eligibility from the State of Florida to teach all the social sciences for grades 6-12. My three children, all grown, are currently enrolled in college in Florida and pursuing their degrees. One of the things I was able to do with each of them was to instill the idea that knowledge is empowering and expands their capacities and possibilities in life. It also has helped them to understand others better and break down cultural and ideological barriers which tend to separate people.
