"Hi, my name is Nick and I love math and physics. I have earned a bachelor's degree in physics and mathematics and am continuing my education by currently being enrolled in a physics master's program. I know what it’s like to struggle in a subject and I know what it’s like to have a tutor come alongside you and provide support and encouragement. It can make all the difference academically and turn your worst class into one you look forward to. I am a patient and enthusiastic tutor. My love of these subjects will come through and make our tutoring sessions together successful and fun. I look forward to helping you grow in understanding of complex concepts and finding success.
When I was an upperclassman in college, I routinely tutored underclassmen with their physics assignments. I was able to help them grasp the concepts and reinforce my knowledge of physics. Those students left our sessions with a better understanding of the concepts they were learning. I also worked as a tutor at a physics study table in college and helped students as they dropped in for help. This consisted of working through challenging problems alongside them. Additionally, I have informally tutored many classmates in lower level math classes. This past summer, I was hired by a family friend to tutor their son in math. This student went from really struggling with pre-algebra to understanding the concepts and how to do the problems. I was also responsible for grading quantum mechanics homework assignments for first-year QM students and offering feedback on where they went wrong. This feedback helped them to correct misunderstandings about the concepts and further their understanding of the material. Quantum mechanics is a challenging course and it is very easy to get through the course without actually understanding the material. Although being able to solve problems is important, I believe understanding the material behind the problems is much more important. That has been and will continue to be my focus when teaching other people.
