"Hello, I am Lance and I'm going to be transferring to Kansas University. I have a number of qualities and experiences that qualify me to tutor pupils in English and history related subjects. I've taken a number of courses related to literature and English while enrolled in college. These include classes dealing with world literature, reading, writing, and proofreading. I have also taken classes in the history of the Western world and sociology that enable me to better explain the intricacies of history to my pupils.

I also have experience tutoring students one-on-one. A student was looking for help in his English writing class, and I put together an approach to help him understand the subtleties of writing in the English language. I helped him by examining his writing and going over what he did well and then the areas that needed work. My first priority is always to find out how proficient my student already is in a subject so I'm not teaching them things that they already understand. After I find out where they are at in a subject, I will address the areas they need to work on. With the student I was helping in the English writing class, we immediately worked on vocabulary, writing styles, and simple grammar. I find that having a rather elastic method of tutoring is best to cater to the specific needs of each student.
