"I am a certified teacher with extensive experience in tutoring regular and special education students of all ages. After a career as a business, fiscal, and personnel manager, I became interested in teaching through working with my own children. I began tutored students in math and language arts, and developed and implemented an English as a second language curriculum for a language conservatory, as well as a French curriculum for a school district's extracurricular program. I also tutored at-risk students in pre-K through 6th grade in publicly funded math and reading programs. Witnessing the students' delight in their own progress, along with the positive feedback from parents and other teachers, were the catalysts that led me to become certified in teaching both regular and special education. I taught in the public schools.

By implementing a variety of techniques with a positive approach, I adapt the lessons to the needs of the student. I am currently tutoring math students from second grade through Algebra 1 and Language Arts students from pre-school through college. I have also helped a number of students to improve ASVAB, SAT, and ACT scores.

I have extensive experience in teaching reading, math, social skills, and organizational skills to special needs students with varying diagnoses including ADD, ADHD, autism, sensory processing disorders, Aspergers, and developmental delays using a variety of research-based techniques.

My goal is to guide students to experience accomplishments that spark motivation. I utilize research-based materials and techniques. I establish high, but realistic expectations; practice positive reinforcement; match teaching technique to learning style; and ensure that learning experiences bolster self-esteem.
