"Greetings! Bonjour, les amis!
I am a certified English teacher who loves working with students of all ages. My undergraduate degree is in Creative Writing with a minor in Psychology. I have earned a Master of Arts in English, a certificate in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), and most of a Master of Arts in Teaching. Over my career I have taught French, Spanish , and Social Studies to elementary and middle school students, English and SAT Prep to high school students, Reading and Writing to college students, and English as a Second Language to students of all ages, both in the U.S. and abroad.
I have studied French in Paris, Switzerland, Montreal, and at several French Embassies. My post-graduate studies have included rigorous instruction on effective teaching and tutoring strategies. My lessons address multiple learning styles and present information via videos, audio tracks, real-world objects and manipulatives, art, music, total physical response activities, graphic organizers, journaling, and more.
I believe every student is capable of learning, and I encourage my students to think critically, ask questions, and focus on true understanding and mastery of the required skills. As your child’s tutor, I am focused on helping your child to make key mental connections that make schoolwork easier. I work with each child’s unique strengths and interdisciplinary interests in order to make the subject matter accessible. Being a teacher means that I am also a lifelong learner. I learn how to be a better teacher from every single student I work with, and I love helping those I work with become the best students they can be!" less...
