"My name is Brian. I was born and raised in the United States in a family of French origin, having been brought up with English and French. This began my passion for languages, both through self-study and formal classes. My educational background includes AP French, AP Italian and AP Spanish, as well as the French Honors Society, Italian Honors Society and Spanish Honors Society. I hold a bachelor’s degree in finance and international business with a minor in Arabic.
I have been tutoring for the last 15 years in both academic and private settings. For two years, I taught basic French to after-school enrichment classes of 10-15 children in Grades 2-5 with a focus on making the language as fun and engaging as possible. I later worked for ten years with local schools (Grades 6-12) offering academic assistance and test prep for French, Italian and Spanish: Levels I-IV and AP. This was to help both struggling students and students looking to go into AP classes. I also worked with a university tutoring center to tutor French, Italian and Spanish majors in one-on-one sessions with a focus on improving fluency and understanding grammar concepts.
I now offer French, Italian, Spanish and English to students in need of assistance as well as adults looking to learn a new language in one-on-one or group sessions. My experiences have allowed me to tailor my teaching techniques to meet the needs of the individual, as learning methods truly differ from person to person. The two most important approaches to teaching are to make the material interesting and concise. My approach to language acquisition is global, which begins with learning the fundamentals of the language then expanding to more complex phrases and conversations.
My main goal with tutoring is to make the process simple and relatable with as much real-world application as possible. I thoroughly enjoy being able to impart my knowledge to others. Reach out with any questions and set up a consultation today!" less...
