For me, learning is the most valuable way to spend my time. As a teacher, I'm grateful that I can learn from my students in every class I teach. I enjoy getting to know my students and their individual needs and learning styles. Then, I create personalized classes where students more rapidly achieve their objectives, because they're using the learning tools and strategies that work best for them and having fun in every class.
While living in Chile for more than five years, I taught students from four years old to 67 years old, including investment bankers, an air force general and an advisor to the president of Chile. I also taught at Chilean universities, including DUOC UC and Universidad Santo Tomás.
I especially enjoy helping students prepare for the IELTS and TOEFL exams. My IELTS and TOEFL students have been accepted at the London School of Economics, University of London, and Brown University among others. I most often work with students who would like to improve their scores on the writing and speaking sections of these tests.
Connection and conversation can't be learned from books alone. With more than 6 years of experience living and working in Latin America, I have the lived experiences of not only becoming fluent in Spanish as a second language but also connecting with friends in communities with diverse dialects and cultures from Chile to Guatemala. Among many bilingual jobs I have held, I have worked as a simultaneous translator for an international conference on the rights of domestic workers sponsored by the United Nations.
