"My name is Max, and I’m excited to share a bit about my background and tutoring approach. I was raised in Puerto Rico, where I developed a deep connection to the Spanish language. I later had the privilege of serving a two-year mission for my church, during which I taught people in both Spanish and Portuguese. This experience ignited my passion for language education, and last year, I worked as a Spanish tutor at the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah. There, I specialized in teaching elderly individuals one-on-one, focusing on grammar and vocabulary through personalized online lessons. Currently, I’m expanding my linguistic expertise as I pursue a degree in Portuguese and Spanish at Brigham Young University.

In addition to my formal teaching experience, I volunteered to teach weekly English classes to Latinos and Brazilians, using the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' English Connect program. This role allowed me to work with a wide range of learners, helping them build confidence in their language skills.

As a tutor, my methodology centers on teaching students how to learn a language, fostering habits that empower them to continue progressing independently. While I guide my students through more challenging grammatical principles during our sessions, I emphasize the importance of developing learning strategies that work for them long-term. Having learned multiple languages myself, I have firsthand experience in testing various methods and refining those that are most effective. This personal journey has shaped my approach, and I am confident that I can help you achieve your language goals.
