I am passionate about helping people connect with the beauty of Italian and European Portuguese (spoken in Portugal, Madeira, the Azores, and their diaspora). As a heritage speaker with a multilingual upbringing, I developed a deep love for these languages and their cultures early on. This passion led me to pursue extensive academic training: a BA in Italian Studies, an MA in Applied Linguistics focusing on Foreign Language Pedagogy, and a PhD in Educational Studies specializing in Adult Learning and Development. My research has focused on heritage learners of Portuguese in New England.

With years of teaching experience at various institutions – from the Dante Alighieri Society to high schools, community colleges, and universities – I’ve honed my ability to tailor lessons for students of all levels. I currently teach at Lesley University, where I develop courses on language, culture, cinema, and local communities for professionals, continually exploring new ways to make learning effective and enjoyable.

I’m also an associated researcher at ISCTE-University Institute of Lisbon’s Centre for Research and Sociology, where I research and publish on the Portuguese diaspora in New England and topics in Italian pedagogy." less...
