"I am a fun-loving, but studious married father of three young boys. I have masters degrees in American History (focusing mainly on Revolutionary and New Republic periods and pre-Civil War military conflicts) and Old Testament (with a strong focus on Biblical Hebrew and its cultural context). I also am near completion of a masters degree in Philosophy and Christian Apologetics. I have strong experience in paper-writing as part of my academic life, and I even have an article pending for an academic journal.
I have a bachelors degree in Sport Management and spent seven years working in Minor League Baseball before transitioning to academic work as I raised my family. I have real-life work experience on the business management of sports, human resources, and team leadership. I enjoy learning and helping others learn. I recognize that when people have difficulty understanding difficult concepts, they must be communicated and presented in a way to help the problem and solution be seen together as a completed puzzle or from a different perspective. Everybody has a different learning style, and that may require changing how we think about how we study, learn, and demonstrate what we learn.
In my personal time, when I am not helping my school teacher wife raise our children, I am involved in a local community theater group and play trombone in the community Big Band/jazz and concert bands. I do not hide from my nerd persona, loving Star Wars (Han Shot First) and superhero movies (both DC and Marvel), Indiana Jones, Back to the Future, Goonies, and many other classics. However, I also grew up loving sports, even when I couldn't play them very well. I love watching baseball, football, hockey, Olympic and international sports (probably because I am a sucker for geography, flags, and history). I appreciate arts and culture, especially if I have not been exposed to it before, and I welcome new experiences that will broaden my horizons." less...
