"While in college, I began tutoring fellow theology & philosophy students in logic & ethics. I found I have a knack for making learning fun & simplifying difficult concepts by using visuals, stories, & speed drills. My friends & I studied for tests during our morning bus ride by teaching test materials to our friends! Not only did we learn the necessary material but all of us expanded our knowledge in many areas.

While our six children were growing up, I served as a volunteer tutor for reading & arithmetic skills in their elementary school. We also homeschooled several of our children for grades K to 7. Homeschooling requires the parent to tutor their children in each subject area. I loved adapting learning materials to our children's different learning styles. This required great creativity, patience, & perseverance, & also, knowing when to stop & allow the knowledge to "sink it" for a while.

In the past several years, I've helped our younger children & their friends with their high school English, writing, civics, & American History courses because those are areas of special interest to me.

Attending Catholic schools for grade, high school, & college equipped me with superior English grammar, punctuation, & writing skills. I've used these skills in the areas of writing, tutoring, proofreading, & editing. I have tutored people in English since I was in college.

American History is my avocation, especially the Revolutionary War era, & World War II. While I do not have a degree in History, I've done independent study for both high school & college credit in American History. While in high school, my American History teacher allowed me to pursue independent study since I already knew the entire content of our textbook. I was fascinated by the JFK assassination investigation, as was my teacher. So, he allowed me to go to the Hill Reference Library to read the entire Warren Commission Report, study the photos, etc., & make & document my own conclusions. I then went before the history faculty" less...
