"I have a B.A. in chemistry and biology from Dartmouth (summa cum laude), a Ph.D. in chemistry from UCLA, and am currently a lecturer in UCLA's Dept. of Chemistry and Biochemistry. I have also taught chemistry in the Los Angeles Community College District and at USC. In addition, I have four years of experience teaching chemistry and other sciences at the high school and junior high school levels, and am currently tutoring students in both chemistry and biophysics.

I have a passion for teaching, and am told by my non-scientist friends and family that I have a talent for making complex ideas understandable. Often, when students feel lost, it's because they don't have a big-picture understanding of the subject; I specialize in providing such an understanding. I also have years of experience figuring out just what is confusing a student and tailoring an explanation to address that confusion. I'm available afternoons, evenings, and weekends.

I'm also a skilled expository writer, and have a deep understanding of vocabulary—particularly the subtle distinctions that exist between similar words. To quote Mark Twain, "The difference between the almost right word and the right word is really a large matter—’tis the difference between the lightning-bug and the lightning."
